Eligibility and criteria for a business loan

Whilst there is no set criteria for business loans, lenders generally require a profitable business with at least 25% of your annual turnover being profit.

For unsecured loans lenders usually require a personal guarantee. It is not uncommon for the lender to ask for a director to be a homeowner as well as a sensible personal net worth. Ideally most businesses are required to have two years of trading.

Secured business loans are perfect for businesses that have assets such as machinery, property, and vehicles. It is ideal for directors that don't wish to offer a personal guarantee. In some cases, the loan is cost-effective when compared to an unsecured loan.
